It's nice to realize that, despite my reclusive behavior during medical school, I still have old friends. Like Bo Barnes, who I ran into in today paddling in Glacier Bay. He was the longtime force behind Outdoors Unlimited, the program that introduced my to kayaking and for which I used to teach outdoors classes. Now he's retired and up paddling Glacier Bay with a bunch of former instructors.Bo says after he gets home, maybe he'll grab his boat, track me down along the Inside Passage and come paddle with me for a few weeks. I'm looking forward to that.
