Where is Jim now?

Ketchikan

In Ketchikan I was adopted by the local kayak outfitter, Southeast Sea Kayaks. They lent me tools to fix a gasket on my dry suit, took me out to the mothership from which they run kayak trips, fed me smoked salmon, and generally made me feel at home. The forecast on Sunday was for a storm to roll in sometime in the next couple days and it was tempting to stay in town and weather the storm with them, but for fear of getting too comfortable and never leaving, I went ahead and resumed paddling.

On my way out of town, I visited the native town of Saxman, which has one of the larger collections of totem poles in the world and a correspondingly large population of tourists.
